Kanyakumari is a place which every Indian remembers, as it is placed at the southern tip of India and one of the important tourist spots in India. Nagercoil is the capital town of Kanyakumari District and Asaripallam is about 3 kms from Nagercoil. Asaripallam is an important place because it is here one of the earliest TB sanatoriums was started. The TB sanatorium was started in the year 1937 by the then Travancore Cochin Government. The campus had an area of 100.5 acres which has now become the Kanyakumari Government Medical College, a serene, eco friendly campus with greeneries all around.

The newly constructed 300 bedded hospital was inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 08.12.2004.
